PRELUDE                                                                                                                     Chris Pierce

For the “many-ness” of God’s creative splendor,

Let us give thanks.

Before Jesus’s humility, and the power of Christ’s commands,

Let us stand in wonder.

For the mystery of relationships – God’s with us, and ours with one another,

Let us seek God’s holy wisdom.

Come!  Let us worship the Triune God.

Triune God, your Spirit danced over the waters, your Word was spoken, and the glory of your creation sprang forth: sun and moon, earth and sky, creatures beyond count.  We thank and praise you for putting your image within us and for creating us but a little lower than the angels.  Abide in us, as you abide in the fullness of your holy mystery.  Teach us to be caretakers and stewards of your good earth, that we may walk gently upon the meadows, and leave puddles of light wherever we tread.   Amen.

PSALM READING                                                                                                             Psalm 8

O Lord, our Sovereign,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory above the heavens.

Out of the mouths of babes and infants

you have founded a bulwark because of your foes,

to silence the enemy and the avenger.

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars that you have established;

what are human beings that you are mindful of them,

mortals that you care for them?

Yet you have made them a little lower than God,

and crowned them with glory and honor.

You have given them dominion over the works of your hands;

you have put all things under their feet,

all sheep and oxen,

and also the beasts of the field,

the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,

whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Sovereign,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

GOSPEL READING                                                                                           Matthew 28:16-20

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

HYMN                                      Come, Join the Dance of Trinity                 Worship & Song 3017

v.1  Come, join the dance of Trinity,

before all worlds begun the interweaving of the Three:

the Father, Spirit, Son.

The universe of space and time did not arise by chance,

But as the Three in love and hope, made room within their dance.

v.3  Come, speak aloud of Trinity,

as wind and tongues of flame set people free at Pentecost

to tell the Savior’s name.

We know the yoke of sin and death,

Our necks have worn it smooth;

Go tell the world of weight and woe that we are free to move!

  1. 4 Within the dance of Trinity, before all worlds begun,

we sing the praise of the Three:

the Father, Spirit, Son.

Let voices rise and interweave, by love and hope set free,

To shape in song this joy, this life: The dance of Trinity.

OUR LORD’S PRAYER ~ Together, we pray…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

OFFERING OF OURSELVES & OUR GIFTS                                           2 Corinthians 9:6 – 11

Gracious God, Holy Trinity, we offer these gifts and ourselves as instruments of your ever-new creation.  May these gifts reflect the glory of your image as they go forth to move creation forward toward its fulfillment in you.   Amen.

HYMN                                            The Spirit Sends Us Forth to Serve                        TFWS 2241

  1. 1 The spirit sends us forth to serve;

we go in Jesus’ name to bring glad tidings to the poor,

God’s favor to proclaim.

  1. 2 We go to comfort those who mourn

and set the burdened free:

where hope is dim, to share a dream and help the blind to see.

  1. 3 We go to be the hands of Christ,

to scatter joy like seed and all our days,

to cherish life, to do the loving deed.
v. 4  Then let us go to serve in peace, the Gospel to proclaim.

God’s Spirit has empowered us;

we go in Jesus’ name.

Hear these words of the ancient church: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.”  Go forth to live in peace.  Amen.
